What motivated you to join Curves?
I badly needed to do something otherwise
I would end up with Diabetes. A friend recommended Curves. I thought it would be a good non-confrontational way to get back into exercising.

What do you like about Curves ?
Curves is friendly, effective and I have made lots of friends. Curves is quick and I can go any time which suits me rather than having to be at a class at a certain time.

How has Curves made a difference in your life ?
I’m healthier, no more high blood pressure. I feel a strong sense of belonging at Curves Frenchs Forest. Above all, I’m happier with myself.

What has been important about this change to you ?
Everything

My Curves Story
Though I have been a member of Curves Frenchs Forest for 3 years, I only got serious about losing weight and getting fit in March 2006. Since that time I have lost over 40 kilos, more than 11 % body fat and nearly 200 cms all over. I have regained my fitness, thrown away the blood pressure medication and feel great. I am a new person!

This success has been due to a reputable weight loss plan and my regular, 5 day a week visit to Curves. You see, Curves only takes 30 minutes and you are out! The staff have been wonderfully supportive. I could not have done it without them. They have played a very important part in my journey. This is the only kind of exercise I have ever stuck to and can honestly say that after 3 years, I still enjoy my daily workout. I have made new friends and feel like part of the family.

What motivated you to join Curves?
To lose weight

What do you like about Curves?
Just 30 minutes, easy to fit in and impossible to be bored.

How has Curves made a difference in your life?
I’ve lost weight, toned up, made exercise a set part of my week and met lots of new people.

What has been important about this change for you?
Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. It can be fun and social.

My Curves Story
Exercise has always been important to me, but as mother to two young children and the author of five novels, I found it extremely hard to fit into my week. So it’s not surprising that the thing that instantly appealed to me about Curves was the compact, and very achievable, thirty-minute workout.

I’ve since learned that ‘time’ is one of many bonuses of being a Curves member. The machines are targeted to women’s bodies and are very effective at toning up our ‘problem areas’.  The atmosphere is supportive and fun. The staff make sure that you use the machines correctly to get maximum benefit, but they are also genuinely interested in getting to know you and what’s going on in your life.

Thirty minutes flies by with a fast-moving program, great soundtracks, and quite a lot of chatting, if you’re in the mood, which I always am.  It’s impossible to be bored, as is often the case with other gyms, or to be complacent.

There are constant promotions to keep your interest and to encourage your ongoing attendance.  When my book, High Potential, was launched this July, the Curves ladies were out in force.  That night I realised the full extent of what Curves is: a place where women can be fit and healthy, network and make new friends, and do what women do best, support each other.
